Mr. Mott

Hello there! I am Mr. Mott and I teach third grade at Luther L. Wright School. I love incorporating technology into the classroom and was frustrated with trying to find sites for student use while at home or in the classroom; so I decided to create my own site and bring everything into one easy place. I was born and raised in Norway, MI, with a five year stint in a small town called Carthage in upstate New York. I graduated from Norway High School in 2002 and attended Bay De Noc Community College for two years before heading to Northern Michigan University to finish my schooling. I was lucky enough to land a job in "The Big Snow Country" right out of college. I have been teaching since the fall of 2008, where I started as a fourth grade teacher. Due to class cuts, I was funneled down to third grade. I love working with kids at this age level seeing as how they have so much energy and are eager to learn.

When not in the classroom, I am an outdoor enthusiast and a sports nut! There is nothing better than hiking a trail in the Porcupine Mountains that leads right to the shores of the great Lake Superior for a delicious picnic.

In my classroom, I promote an atmosphere of safety, trust, and respect. I work hard to build a sense of community among my students, and I emphasize the idea of teamwork. I value cooperation and collaboration both in my classroom and as I work with my peers. I believe that great things can happen when we work together. Times are at their best when a student is not afraid to raise his/her hand with pride and give a WRONG answer, just to have another teammate (classmate) respectfully point them in the right direction. Students need to know, just as in life, it is alright to make a mistake. Every mistake we make is an opportunity to learn. Don't be afraid to fail!
